of the simple things in my life.

little things that finally put a genuine smile to my face, in such a long while.

it feels good to just let go of everything that was previously preoccupying my mind, and putting me through all the pain. it was hard to look at everything and have those thoughts come running back in a rush, but i found out that i can actually capable of doing it. and i do feel good about myself.

gave myself a break after completing whatever i still had on hand. a short break, but a good break. one that allows me to see everything in retrospect, without much emotional input.

and to all those who made it possible: my girls, my neighbours, my batchies. my friends. (:

block theme night with deeblock's victory. made my first ever kimchi fried rice. devoured it with vodka with the D3 girls. (:

met up with my Day 4 committee @ Fish&Co. three years of friendship, and i'm thankful for it. (:
bugis street with D3 girls. cheap dinner @ Ms Clarity, shopping and more shopping, and drinks at tcc. they made me laugh so hard, i swear i was bursting out of the chair.

dinner after service with seniors and juniors. (:

impromptu lunch with Marie, and shopping at my "Orchard Road" (i.e. my favourite Co-op and bazaar @ Central Forum). we have matching Patricks to hang on our bags! and i'm proud of my buys. haha. i love Orchard Road. (:

our much-awaited for steamboat @ D3! with some guest appearances from D2 and D4! bought too much food, ate too many fishballs, sotongballs, prawnballs, mushroom balls and whatever balls you can think of, drank too much malibu, and laughed too much. a pretty oily affair, but it was so good! (:

Convocation Dinner! together with Gwendo and Minsun, we the seafood ladies (so because PJ insisted that Gwendo looked like one in her polo tee and black skinnies, and we all had on the same outfit!) helped to serve food to the hightable and the uncle treated us to the ultra sinful brownie with ice-cream! the seniors looked so good in their gowns. and Master too! it feels so Harry Potter-ish. haha. we are now determined to graduate in hall (if we can survive!) so that we can get such treatment!

and a jog to West Coast and back with Jo and Minsun. took a slow walk through the park while taking in the fresh air filled with the greenness of nature's beauty. contradictingly, it was a relaxed jog.

a timely rest that kept me in perspective. which came just nicely, when i was at the brink of the peripheral, blinded without any direction, devoid of any emotions except hurt, and when i just lost myself. i found myself back.

decisions to be made, and i have it all in my head. i was hard on the determination to simply leave to seek back the life i had, but now i realised that this is what gives me life in some aspect. this is where i found so many smiles, amidst the few tears. it was hard when all was void and gloomy, but at my peak, i looked down and realised that roses, despite their thorns, are really pretty.

getting pricked was a painful lesson, but it didn't teach me to stay away from roses completely. sometimes, we just have to be a little more careful around ourselves, and we will still be able to bask in the beauty of these simple things life has to offer us.

hopefully, my roses will bloom. (:

liberation, but only for a while.

i need to say this out loud.

EXAMS ARE OVER!

okay, actually it was over 2 days ago on Monday. i'm a little anti-climatic and slow you see.

anyways, i'm absolutely wonderfully happy because it's over! it's been a real torture. goodbye Social Work and Sociology! welcome Psychology! and goodbye forever, Engineering. i hereby salute all Engineering students. how on earth can they major in that? goodness me.

heading out to KFC after the headache-y Social Psychology paper. it gave me the throbs. and the hall i took the paper in was terrible! it was really cold and there was some funny sounds coming from the lights/air-conditioner. and the seats were low! oh well.

heeheehee. I FINALLY ATE BOTAK JONES! -grinns- my Cajun Chicken! it's really good! the fries are a tad spicy though. but GOOD! can't wait for the Ricola dinner for more of Botak Jones. why is it called Botak Jones? is the boss a botak?

i really went crazy while studying. and my Korean friend taught me how to make funny (scary?) faces. haha. absolutely ugly but that's how i am when i'm deep in my books.

my BING BING cookie from Gwendoline! love the crooked smile.

as i entered and left the examination halls, i didn't feel as scared as i was the previous semester. i felt, normal. the papers weren't a breeze, at all. they were quite killer-ish actually. but i simply can't find a reason for my lack of emotions. it's like i know i am scared, but i don't feel fear. i know i am unprepared, but i don't feel anxiety. i know i'm happy after the paper, but i don't feel any happier. perhaps the void really does exist, and in every part of me.

so the exams are over. and soon i'll be a 2nd year student. and, in the exact words, a "returning senior" for hall. haha. it feels so weird. i mean, it feels as though my freshie year has barely started. i remember waiting anxiously for my letters of acceptance from the universities, visiting the open houses, the interviewand ultimately, the decision. orientation camps, shifting in to hall and the start of the academic year. and now it's all over. so soon, too soon.

more photos from backlogs.

tcc-ed at Circular Road. on the day my heart sunk to an unretrievable level. perhaps it was the overwhelming emotions on that particular day that made me indifferent today. perhaps. i am thankful for those updates for the times when i was studying in hall. and i prayed for him during our nightly exam prayers. yes, he'll be fine. (:

"floating, falling, sweet intoxication!
touch me, trust me, savour each sensation...."

THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA! i must blog about this before i forget. a once-in-a-lifetime experience! the show was simply, orgasmic. although we were seated right up at the top because we're poor kids. but it was a good view! there was a live band playing below the stage! and my breath was taken away right from the very first scene. how the monkey musical box came to life, although i don't really fancy it because it's pretty freaky. how the chandelier came to life and hovered above the rich people who bought the front seats. ): how they sailed across the labyrinth, as though the entire stage was on water. how the candles came on and flicker in the dark. how majestic the scenes were, complete with the backdrops and the quick sets change. how pretty the costumes were. how clear and resounding the voices were. how everything just came to life, and how it was so real. i felt like i was transcended back in time and space, right to where and when everything took place. how it was so far away, but yet so near. how the very presence of the Phantom gripped me with fear. the setting of an operahouse within an operahouse, how complicated but yet simple.

i love every single minute, every single second of the show. and if you haven't caught it, please do! the cheapest tickets will do if you're not picky and if you have spectacles or lenses to rectify your myopia. it's something you can never miss. and i'm thankful for the company! i was so depressed when nobody wanted to make solid plans for this. and i would have lived in regret for the rest of my life if i had given it a miss. thanks!

finally, my post-exam activity! our BIG bang day! with Ellen and new-found friend, Melissa. (: it all started with suggestions to walk to City Hall because we have all the time in the world. 3 months to be exact. haha. yes, for the uninformed, that's the length of our school holidays. theirs, but not mine. explanations in future entries! eventually we took a bus and a train. haha. went to Bras Basah (is that how you spell it? the first word looks wrong. haha.) and got my book! Winnie gave me some ten bucks voucher and i only paid $6.80 for my paperback! (: and i pre-ordered my Harry Potter book too. i almost missed it by a day.

our highlight of the day was the DHL hot-air balloon. but when we went, it was closed for maintenance and we were so disappointed. but patient us waited at Mos Burger and chatted about everything under the sun. and finally, our patience paid off and we went on our hot-air balloon! my first ever hot air balloon ride! and we had boarding passes and annoucements to report for departure, just like a real flight!

we went 40 storeys up and had a breathtaking view of the city. the blinding lights, the busy traffic and the buildings, resting for the day. and as the wind blew against our faces, it felt like true liberation. there couldn't have been any better way than this to mark an end to the exams and the academic year.

dinner was at Sakae, Ellen's very first. haha. good food, and of course good company. i'm thankful for the day! for a wonderful friend, and another one made. (: thanks girls!

will be shifting out of my current room next week. and today, i spent so long packing! there're so many things in that tiny space! i can't imagine packing my home should we shift in the near future. after packing everything, it looks just like how it was a few months ago, when i had just shifted in.

it looks the same. but it's certainly not the same.

many things that i want to say, but i'll need time to collect my thoughts. i'll say them, someday. (:

and happy thing of the day: i dyed my hair black! jet-black. sparkling black. black black. (: Lay Joan, your twin is back in Singapore! :P

(:

sidenote: i just read through my entry before publishing and i realised the pendulum of emotions swung from end to end throughout the entry. i guess that's just how i've been for the past few weeks.

070407 - WRCD celebrations!

in all due respect to the drenched souls, the people behind WRCD. (: Ruixian Mdm never had a better reason to smile. (:

my qL! in our attempts to be small eyed and big eyed. of course, only i made the cut. his eyes are how tiny can? muahahaha. :P

Yingsheng, Evonne, Jorin Mdm and Mizael! (:

and lastly Qijun. haha. i still maintain my stand that his features are rather feminine, depsite protests from him! (:

dinner at some seafood restaurant and drinks at this rip-off bubble tea shop! the bill came up to a total of 83 buckaroos for some bubble tea and finger food. rahhh. i can buy 80 cups from the neighbourhood bubble tea shops and they taste nicer can?

anways, it was nice meeting up again! i've really been so detached for so long and getting the updates were certainly amusing!

i'm glad that we're staying together, regardless of what happened. at least most of us. well, like they always say, the team that does the sai gang (shite work) together, stays together! considering the amount of sai gang we've done, which includes literally digging up sai from the campsite drain, i think we're gonna stay together for a long long time. (:

another Saturday passed. another event over. that's how it has been for so long.

i'll save my words for next Wednesday.

you'll always be my favourite Buttercup! (:

20070101

a new year post.

2006 kind of flew past in a blink of the eye! and now it's a HAPPY NEW YEAR! welcome, 2007! (:

2) Bangkok trip - with Marie and her folks. lots of loot back and i can't wait to go again.
3) four months stint at relief teaching - days of fatigue, but days of total satisfaction on hindsight. gotten a feel of teaching, and i really wanna do it. (:

5) arts camp - Ricola! great peeps in arts! (:
6) odac camp - fun in the sun! great peeps met in Carebears too! i know the group name sucks. haha.

8) getting into FASS - acceptance to NUS FASS, NTU HSS Psychology and NIE! decided on the place i always wanted to go to, with no regrets.
9) moving into Temasek Hall - "some call it a hostel, we call it home". a hall rich with culture and traditions. totally loving it there, complete with my wonderful Dakarai mates and neighbours in deeblock!
10) picking up soccer - my skills still suck but i will work harder! (:
11) learning hockey and touch rugby - totally fun can? (:
12) my 19th birthday - island creamery treat from the Red Cross peeps, dimsum with the girls, supper at geylang and surprise from the Dakarai mates. i'm blessed!

14) Camp Unity - days of countless shouting. madness.
15) christmas with the Red Cross peeps - good ol' fun.

that's all i think! (: a pretty fulfilling year i must say. a highly accelerated year, but with events that i must say i've grown up in it! (:

before the year ended:

met up with the cultural studies group! the one with the dynamics of two arts students, two bizad students and one science student. and my first A in the semester! (: had the long-awaited dinner at Ding Tai Feng with the fantabulous xiaolongbaos (Ellen, you can stop laughing at me!) and post-dinner drinks was at Cosmopolitan outside Wisma. it was nice meeting them again and i really enjoyed the weekly three hour lectures with their company. to think that i wanted to drop that module at the start of the semester! i'm glad for holding onto it! thanks peeps! (:

Michelle's back from London! met up with her and Weiwei over lunch at Vivocity and nice coffee! and she brought donuts back for us! love it man! (: coffee was nice with the usual chats and the sharing of funny hostel stories from NUS, NTU and London! check out the last photo in the collage! this old couple was enjoying coffee complete with the seabreeze right beside us and it was so SWEET! i wanna do this with my future husband when i get old too! if i ever get married, that is. nice new year's eve meetup with the girls! (:

spent the eve at the countdown party at FCBC with Lynn and Min Sun. an eye-opener for me as a church outside my own and it was pretty good! welcomed the new year with supper at Thomson. the hongkong cafe was so good! (:

that sums up 2006! HALLO 2007! (:
