AB camp rawks! :)
i take back my words about dreading the camp. lol. the camp was tiring both mentally and physically, but i guess the stuff we've learnt and the special friendships that we found made the camp really really special.
let me start with day 1.
we were rushed onto the track, pumped, scolded and all. and Navajo, my group, had an ultra fierce instructor Xin Ran. she was scolding us all the way on Day 1 during our missions. and we had the super nice instructor Jun Hao. he was of course the angel beside Xin Ran. but through her scoldings and the missions, the group bonded really closer together. :)
Day 2. PT was terrible. pumpings, sit-ups, claps, running and more running. the usual stuff but it was really physically challenging. then we set off to Sentosa! the first part of it was terrible. we had to run all the way to Tanjong Beach with our heavy stuff. almost died along the way. then we had some nice games on the beach. loved my group 'cause it was really nice playing with them. Navajo rawks! then we had to walk round the island for our lunch! can you believe it? we were tired and most importantly hungry! and we still had to walk to find our lunch! it was the hardest lunch i ever had. really learnt how to appreciate food better. then we had a hike round the island to complete a quest. had to translate questions, interview people. the journey was long but Navajo did it! and we came in 2nd! lol. really love you guys lots.
then was the solo walk. we were blindfolded and led into Kent Ridge Park. then we were left alone to reflect. the others girls were paired up but i was alone! unfair! i was left on the bridge with this forest below me. felt so scared! but i really reflected lots. reflected on the past day's lessons and all. and we began to realise that Xin Ran is really nice! :)
Day 3. had games in the morning and Navajo rawked again! really love my group's enthusiasim and all. then we had service learning planning for the rest of the day. we were to plan a sports carnival for some AWWA Teach-Me friends. Navajo did this little obstacle course. lol.
Day 4. the sports carnival! it went totally well! and my group was totally great! we were attached to 2 friends and we really made them feel welcomed! Navajo was all enthusiastic and fun and all. lol. and we taught the two friends the AJ clap! *beams*
at night, we had our land expedition aka night walk! lol. from AJC to ECP. 60 kilometres. it was really mentally and physically challenging. we walked through Ang Mo Kio, Serangoon, the haunted Aljunied, the interesting Geylang, flats that were known as Kallang Airport, big beautiful houses and finally we reached ECP. we learnt bout the supernatural, pimps, values of houses, interesting stuff about Singapore. there was a drunkard who fell onto me and Wendy and I sneaked into some mart to smell the Delifrance bread. :X along the way, i felt like killing people and i felt really drained. but Navajo kept ourselves going with food and thinking about our breakfast! lol. really felt accomplished when we reached ECP.
in the morning, instructor Jun Hao broke down as he felt that it was his fault that we came in late for the walk. initially we were leading but then we slowed down. as he shared, we started to break down too. was really touched at how he put us before himself and how he took full responsibility for it. but still, i guess our group was a success as along the way, we learnt stuff that other groups may not have and our bond was stronger than before. winning is not all, it's really the process. :)
Day 5. reflections and more reflections. but my groupmates were all shagged and they just couldn't take it. so, Navajo was forced to take a nap while other groups were planning for the Grad Nite. then was prize presentation. Calvin got the Best I/C award and Navajo got the Most Enthusiastic Award! *cheers* and it was Instructor Jeremy who nominated us. :) he's really nice. with only 1 rehearsal, Navajo performed and it was great! :) really love those guys.
felt really sad when we broke camp. felt like crying, but a leader's got to be strong. really really learnt alot through the 5 days. started out as strangers, ended up as friends who went through thick and thin together.
i must say that i've grown over the past 5 days. :)
Instructor Jun Hao is sick. hope he gets well soon! :) and hope the Navajoans will all be well!
i'm missing them already. :)
