update update.
this place's been left stagnant for ages! my goodness. i'm still pretty worn out from the past camps and events so i shall leave the photos to do all most of the talking!
some many weeks ago. met up with the girls for bowling (which i totally suck in and thus did not take part in). gave Lay Joan her wonderful fushcia birks! yay! her wonderful friends bought it for her and i hope she LOVES it! dinner was a cheap and good one at Chomp Chomp and desert was at this nice new place called ice^3 in Serangoon Gardens. they serve perfect concoctions of ice-cream with liquor and it's pretty good! for those who do not like liquor, their selection of sundaes are pretty good too! and their fondue looks delicious but i was too full to give it a go. do give it a try! or ask me out for the fondue! (: it's just across the road from Chomp Chomp.
oooh. and we met up with Amanda too! and GSS was top on our list! we almost bought the entire Bugis street down man. brought home good hauls of shirts, skirts and many many more! (: retail therapy still works for me though the miserable amount in my bank account is dwindling. ):
dinner with Jianfu Sir, Jorin Mdm and Yvonne Mdm at Brew. service was still pretty slow but i guess they made up for it with the good ambience, food and drinks! and i do love the nice chat we had there, complete with regular updates of soccer! (:
clique dinner! the turn-out wasn't fantastic but oh well, i can say we did have a great time! dinner was at this Xin Wang HK Cafe place in Marina (a place we FINALLY picked after a painful recce of Marina Square for like a couple of hours with the girls). the food was okay but i love their "po luo" buns! you know this bun that's like totally popular in HK? it has some butter and pineapple slices in them and the ones at this cafe was good! dinner with the clique is never complete without silly army stories from Damien and it was the same this time round! and check out Tinglong's shirt! it's the same as Bryan Wong's but he INSISTS that he bought it first. enjoyed myself thoroughly and i truly believe that some things are worth hanging on for, while others simply are not. that's life i guess. we can never get the best of everything.
more shopping with the girls! i seriously need to stop! no income and i'm spending all that i have away. and my legs are tired too. ): this is bad. gotten some hair extensions with Veron! red blue and purple! (: and we seem to be meeting up every Thursday!
caught Cars with Jianfu Sir on Friday. it's a MUST-WATCH. i like that buck teeth rusty car. i think Maiden's his name! he's so so so cute!!! and that teeny weeny tyre-changing car. i like! (: headed down to ECP for some ULP bbq. the cab fare was a whopping 20 bucks! i think the uncle ripped us off but guess we were all too bushed from the ride to argue with him. oh well. all i had was a chicken wing. and we ended up having Macs for dinner in ECP. goodness.
CRD was on Saturday. yay! it's a good good ending! except for the outstanding Exercise Neutrality reports. i'm happy for the ones who passed, especially those who i can really see putting effort in. for those who didn't pass, i think it's really okay so long as you yourself know that you have benefitted from this programme. and i hope everyone did too. (:
next up was JJ's concert! oh my gawd. it was so so so GOOD! i enjoyed every single second of it. maybe not. okay, rephrase. i enjoyed every single of second of JJ on stage. (: he can sing, dance, rap, beatbox, play the piano and charm his fans all at the same time! it was definitely worth the moolah! and he actually cried towards the end! ): the entire session was absolutely fantastic and i'm looking forward to a next one! (:
the major highlight is arts camp! didn't really know what to expect initially. i mean, for the previous camp i've been to, i was either part of the organising committee/an instructor or if i was a participant, it was for some strict old leadership camp. together with Veron, i dragged myself to Clementi with a very heavy bag and the queue for registration was so long! immediately after registration, i was brought to my OG, Ricola and seriously, i was overwhelmed by everyone over there. i didn't even have time to put down my bag and i was dragged by my AOGL, Tommy, to say hello to everyone who reached before me. a very warm welcome! (: played the usual introduction games and i do suck at remembering names. and we learnt cheers! cheers of a high standard can? for our house, Ramica, cheer, we had to do this action where coordination of arms and legs was called for. not good for people with psychomotor problems, like yours truly. and we played ice-breakers with the entire camp too. it was quite chaotic and i was lost, as usual. the talk by the vice-dean wasn't boring but the nice comfty seat and aircon was simply too inviting! and it felt like the subject talks back in AJ all over again. gawd. campus tour in the afternoon wasn't much of a tour. it simply involved us running about, trying to win games. and i do love my OG! although it was like only day 1, everyone warmed up to each other very quickly and we had great fun with the games. the games at night were okay. basically we had to go from station to station, try to win some money to buy materials to build our mascot. we started out with an angel in mind but ended up with a japanese octopus with wings that eventually fell off instead. haha. oh well. i shared a double room with Xuehua and i'm so excited about moving into my hall. yeaps, an update, i've gotten into Temasek Hall! no mention of a double or single room but i do hope that it's a single! not very keen on staying with strangers for a long period of time. i prefer my personal space behind the doors. the rooms are pretty good! and most importantly, the toilets are clean! (: oooh. we had this SP (secret pal) thingy too! basically we picked nicknames and we had to write to people of another gender every night without revealing our identities. i picked Mary Jane and my SP was Peter Parker. haha. my first letter was pretty crappy. i was so tired but we HAD to write something. so the bulk of my letter contained words like "i really have no idea what to write here" and yada yada. :P
day 2 day 2. breakfast was bad. ): i'm not so keen on hall meals after all. Project Shoot It was good though! we had to go around shooting pictures of things stated on a list, and complete a few station games on the way. Ricola had like the funniest shots! and i love the councillors! they actually sacrificed their lunch just so they can capture more shots while we, the freshies, eat. so nice right? ran about school, Clementi and West Coast, capturing funny photos here and there. and Ricola was awarded Best Effort OG for this! (: pool games was pretty good! other than the floor being sorching hot, the synchronised swimming part was pretty funny. our house cheer worked great time in the pool and it was a splash (literally)! after wetting the bus seats of that unsuspecting bus uncle, we made our way back to the forum and learnt this mambo dance! it was pretty cute. actually all it involved was hand signs to replace to words of the songs but ya, my psychomotor problem got in the way again! but i did enjoy it with Xuehua, Charmaine and whoever was with me! (: after dinner, we had this speed dating thingy. initially, Sebrina, Ellen and I had no partners and so we sat together and chatted while the others were put through having to chat with different guys for 5 minutes each. eventually, the councillors discovered us and paired us up too. it wasn't so bad actually and i met a couple of interesting people! there was this guy who could twist his arm like 360 degrees? and one of them is actually the son of my now-retired secondary school EL teacher! (: talk about the world being small. fright night after that was BAD! we were made to sit through the horrible story of how a girl was killed, made to watch The Excorcism of Emily Rose and then proceed to our stations. my station was supposedly the scariest of the lot. thank God for Bingxiu and Xuehua, although Bingxiu did ask me to keep quiet and not the scream. so mean right? but it was really good having him around. if not, i think i would have just died there. we had to like take a lift up and step out to this pitch-black place. our main objective was to search for a clue and the "ghosts' kept grabbing us by the ankles! initially we didn't see the small room that we were supposed to head to for our clue and we kept walking round and round in circles. i think the "ghosts" got tired of us eventually cause they banged the door and pointed us towards that little room. there was a crying "ghost" in there and we had to like grab the clue from a bowl beside him/her. just as we were walking out of the room, the crying one attacked Bingxiu from the back, another one attacked Xuehua from her back and one attacked me from the door! we were stuck. omg. that was like the freakiest part. and we practically ran out of that place but they didn't let us go! they kept pressing the lift button, refusing to let us go down. ): i was totally freaked out. watched a part of the Brazil match after that and had an early night! i was still pretty traumatised when i was sleeping. ):
day 3 day 3. had some pre-beach games in the morning before we headed to Sentosa! it was madness in Sentosa. we had to like beg the O Comm people for arts spirits, which are like point that we can accumulate for our OG/House. Ricola came up with a series of silly cheers, like our chicken cheer and revised many many more cheers. the games were good fun too! we won all except one and our score was 77/80! (: and we won! i'm proud of Ricola! mass games was good too, with water bombs and tug-of-war. there was a teary incident and we were all so taken aback by it. but i guess it really knitted Ramica closer together as a house! (: we were supposed to meet our SPs after dinner! and my OG girls were so reluctant. oh yah, the night sky of Sentosa is pretty! many stars! (: anyway, back to the SPs meet-up. we were blindfolded and had to chat with our SPs for quite some time. my SP turned out to be a pretty nice guy and we actually made a good conversation! thank God for that. i was so scared that things were gonna be awkward! chatted for like forever, and the councillors actually eavesdropped on us! it felt good to be reunited with the girls and we were sharing our experiences. turned out that mine was pretty okay! (: while waiting for the bus, Ricola played some really silly games but it was fun! haha. (: we left Sentosa at close to midnight and the OG headed out for supper after that. there's a prata place that's only a short distance walk from Eusoff Hall and their prata's pretty good! (:
day 4 day 4. the morning was spent on some sponsorship talks and Where's Wally, where we had to run about finding some O Comm people to complete a bingo. it was OKAY, but i do love the BINGO cheer thought by Ellen! it was so apt and it won us many many more spirits! (: war games was FUN FUN FUN! (: it was at house level and we had to like crawl in mud, get hit by flour and waterbombs! and they are no ordinary waterbombs can? they were filled with flour, food colouring, chilli sauce and ketchup! yikes right? and we were so dirty after that. ): rushed to bathe with the girls and the very clumsy me knocked my legs against Xuehua's bed ands a part of my leg swelled up. i am SO accident-prone. i return with a blue-black/injury after every camp! ): it was SP night and clubbing after dinner. once again, the girls were all so reluctant to meet our SPs. we met up in my room and attempted to run away from it. haha. of course our plan didn't work. the dining hall was decorated to look like a classy dining place, complete with candlelights. my SP turned out to be a really nice person! dinner was kinda awkward with the two of us who have sadly lost our voice trying to shout over the blaring music blasting from the humongous speakers. eventually we gave up and focused on our food. haha. the ride to the club was lightened up by the SPs of the other girls! the guys all knew each other so all of us just sat around and played some games. it was ALOT better than having to strike up a convo with just the two of us. went to this club names MOX and had a good time there. (: Ellen, Yueli, Sebrina, Grace and Cheryl are great company! Ricola went for supper after that too! although we were all barely awake, the time for bonding was good! (:
day 5 day 5. took many many photos and sat through the long farewell speeches. it was kinda draggy though. the only hyped-up part was the shaking of everyone else's hands and our own last OG and house cheer. i'm so gonna miss the camp! ): went out for lunch/dinner with Ricola at Breko in Holland V after that and it was nice nice nice! (:
camp's over but i had a really GREAT time with the rest! Ricola and Ramica rawks! (: looking forward to more of the orientation stuff with the Ricola peeps! and Veron! thanks for accompanying me! we didn't really have chances to talk cause we were both so bushed from the days' activities but i really appreciate your company! (:
SYF was on Saturday. and i'm so glad it's over! FANG GONG LE! (: managed to survive the day, but barely. walked around my huge area, ran around with stretchers and dealt with a couple of hyperventilation cases. met a AMKSS schoolmate and the teachers too! (: i'm really thankful to all those who answered to my desperate pleas to help out for the duty! don't know if you guys will be reading this, but THANK YOU ALL! i REALLY REALLY appreciated it and this comes from the bottom of my heart. no event is complete without the heart and soul of the volunteers who helped out! (:
service on Sunday was good! Jianfu Sir came along so me, Dorl Mdm and Engkee Sir decided to all go together! Pastor Mark was so funny! but the message he brought across was good! (: went for dinner at NYDC after that and it was nice catching up with all of them! (:
met up with Alison, Suyee and Jiayi today! and they love to photo-whore. i wasn't in the mood to photo-whore much, probably cause i'm really tanned now and i look funny. ): nevertheless, it was a good time with them, complete with the updates on each others' lives! (:
whoa. this is a really long entry! i started at 2340hrs and it's been two whopping hours already! turned out that i didn't let the photos do the talking much! all in all, i enjoyed the past few weeks! especially ARTS camp! (: meeting up the the Ricola girls for Rag tomorrow. hope it'll be fun! tada!
