of the family day.

today was a different Sunday. i dragged my weary self out of the bed unwillingly, prepared myself to go out of the house in a record time i never knew i was capable of and together with my sister, took a long bus ride to join my parents there.

amidst the buzzing around of the post-exam activities and the last few days of school, i had almost forgotten about it. and they only reminded me on Saturday night, when i was all groggy from the long day spent in school and campsite. Daddy's company is holding a Family Day and all employees and their families are invited.

the last time i remembered having a Family Day was when Fantasy Island in Sentosa was still in existent. roughly when i was seven years old? that's some twelve years ago. as i grew up, such activities dwindled down, so much so that i don't remember any for the past five years. i don't know if the reason lies in simply a lack of such events, or my inability to be present due to my busy lifestyle.

nevertheless, this Family Day was held in Downtown East, complete with an entry to Escape and Wild Wild Wet. the excitment was killed by the bad weather and all we did in Escape was to visit the Haunted House and for Daddy to catch up with his mates who were also present with their families. the Haunted House was quite an experience; for i don't remember sticking so close to my family due to my innate fear of creepy things and us laughing at the supposedly ghosts that were so unreal. all rides were close because of the light drizzle and the threat of lightning, which was really quite a disappointment.

trying our luck, we went into Wild Wild Wet and to thank God for it, all rides were initially closed too but the moment we stepped in, an announcement came on to inform us that all rides will be open! Winnie and I tried all the rides that were around, with some threatening to rip my guts out. that big slide thingy was so scary can? for a moment i thought i was going to fly out of Downtown East and land probably in Tampines or something. gawd. we took turns and allowed Mummy and Daddy to have their share of fun too. it was nice to see them indulging in the fun of those rides, just like they were teenagers once again.

it's been so long since we last had this. and so long since i had so much fun with the family. it felt as though i had suddenly found back the family i thought i had allowed to slip past me. actually, they never did go away. it was just me, who was so caught up in my own life that i had neglected this very aspect of my life.

i truly enjoyed the day. and the warm feeling of finding something that you dearly treasure back. (:
