i'm back to rant about the my science practicals i had yesterday! lol = X
biology practical. we had to complete this entire list of biochemical tests for carbohydrates, lipids and proteins. "they're no longer called food tests" said Ms Mani. *rolls my eyes* firstly, all bunser burner starters suck. they're unlike the nice one we had back in AMKSS. they look like guns and they're rusty. and they look scary. it just gives you the feeling that the bunsen burner is going to explode the moment you press the starter. so when i was switching on the bunsen burner, i felt so scared of that "gun" that i knocked over the test-tube rack. 6 test-tubes went down with it, and 2 survived. so i broke 4. i could feel Ms Mani's stare on me when the rack went down. but i must say that the test-tube rack sucked in a way too. the holes where we're supposed to put the test-tubes in are so shallow that they practically serve no purpose. if you just hit the rack a little, the test-tubes will drop out. so, another test-tube fell out halfway through the practical. in conclusion, i broke a whopping 5 test-tubes in 1 hr and 30 minutes yesterday. this is quite an "accomplishment" for someone who has never broken a single test-tube in 16 years of her life. lol.
other than me, joan and brother boo broke a test-tube each. 'cause we were all sitting together, brother boo got blacklisted by Ms Mani for making everyone around him break test-tubes. we had only 1 hour and 15 minutes to complete a long list of tests and to complete our practical worksheet. the time was of cause insufficient. but when she gave us only 10 seconds to hand in our work, i just handed in my half-complete work. and she refused to take those who handed in late. so it's either you don't finish your work or you don't hand in. either way, heads will roll. i hate biology practicals.
immediately after that practical, we had to climb two floors to the chemistry lab. but thank God we had time to take a breath while Mrs Ong was briefing us on titration and dilution. the chemistry practical was basically alright 'cause i quite like titration. but what i didn't like was my discovery of a chipped beaker and 2 chipped burettes. i had already rinsed the 2 burettes with tap water and then distilled water. when i was about to rinse them with the reagents, i discovered that they were chipped. so i had to do the rinsing all over again! even Mrs Ong was impressed by my discovery.
the 2 practicals in a row were really very tiring. besides those 2 practicals, we had our physics practical on tuesday. it was really bad 'cause we were late for it. Mr Chan screamed at us and that really dampened our spirits. and the practical was kind of tough. it was on some oscillation thingy with springs, weights and stopwatches. we had to plot a graph and complete a report on it too. in the end, i didn't manage to finish it but i handed it up anyway. so i'm gonna prepare myself for a scolding when he finish marking them. *prays*
that sums up the 3 practicals i've had in a week. pretty bad, huh? i still miss the drawers in the science labs back in AMKSS. it's so troublesome having walk here and there just to collect test-tubes and beakers and crocodile clips. boo.
oh yes! we've got a new member in our 7 sisters clan, which is now known as the 8 immortals. ronnie, the very hardworking guy whose ambition is to become a member of the opposition party and move on to being the president, requested to join! lol. he was like asking me why i didn't call him brother. so i was like "you want to be our brother?" and he nooded with THAT smile on his face. lol. and he wants us to call him President.
final conclusion, school is really getting better. *beams*
